Built in the late 1960s, Broadwater Farm Estate is no longer fit for many demands of modern life. Driven by the guiding principles of efficiency, pedagogy and ensuring the intervention is future- proof, this regeneration proposal creates a new wing for one of the estate’s mid-rise blocks.
This comprises of four storeys of new dwellings which are constructed using a kit of parts system alongside additional facilities to accommodate the design and creation of infill components. This contributes to a more spatially efficient arrangement of accommodation, increases the buildings’ density and allows for endless adaptations whilst granting the residents architectural agency to decide the composition of their homes and participate in the act of construction.
